One of the last projects Amy Winehouse worked on before her untimely death earlier this year was a rendition of Jazz classic ‘Body & Soul’ to appear on Tony Bennett‘s upcoming album, ‘Duets II’.
Ahead of the release of the album, on what would have been Winehouse’s 28th birthday, the ‘Body & Soul’ duet with Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett has now been released.
The duet, which has been revealed to be Winehouse’s final studio recording, was recorded in March at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. The release of the ‘Duets II’ album is timed to coincide with the launch of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity to support people suffering from disability, financial disadvantage or addiction. All proceeds from the ‘Duets II’ album will go to the charity.
Of the ‘Body & Soul’ Duet, Amy’s father Mitch said: “Amy was so excited to be working with Tony Bennett and really looking forward to her fans hearing this new recording.
“The fact that Amy’s voice is sounding as amazing and beautiful as ever and she is singing with the great Tony Bennett seems the most fitting tribute of all at this very difficult time.”
The duet offers a glimpse of Amy’s vocal talent, drawing major similarities to Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald’s version of ‘Body & Soul’.
