Located in Rhode Island, the 57th annual Newport Jazz Festival, sponsored by jewelry manufacturer Alex and Ani, will kick off with an opening concert featuring Wynton Marsalis and Michael Feinstein with Noe Negri on Friday, 5th August.
The festival maintains the same time tested format it has held for years – Three days of outdoor concerts, with the opening night on the grounds of the International Tennis Hall of fame before moving to Fort Adams State Park for two full days of performances.
The three day festival, which runs until August 7th will feature many of the biggest names in Jazz. Leading the pack will be Best New Artist Grammy Award Winner, and Berklee College of Music Alumni Esperanza Spalding, who will be performing on both the 6th and 7th of August at the Fort Adams State Park.
Tickets for opening night are on sale now, and range from $40 to $100. Two-day passes for the Fort Adams portion of the festival are also available, for $125. Visit the Newport Jazz Festival Website for the latest ticket information.
Other notable acts include New Orleans’ rising star Trombone Shorty, Hiromi, Eddie Palmieri, Regina Carter and Steve Coleman on Saturday; alongside The Ravi Coltrane Quarter, Brubeck Brothers, and Angélique Kidjo for Sunday. The full lineup for each day is available below.
