Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have revealed the release date of their upcoming jazz album.
The pair first announced they were working on an album last year, after months so speculation that Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, was planning explore her Jazz roots. Long before Germanotta became Gaga, she was in the jazz band throughout high school and regularly performed jazz while studying musical theater at New York University.
The long-awaited album was originally supposed to be released at the beginning of this year, but Gaga broke her hip 10-months into her Born This Way tour, which delayed recording until last summer. The album suffered further delays to accommodate the duo’s hectic schedules; however, a final release date is now set in stone.
Titled Cheek to Cheek, the album is officially slated for release on September 23.
Now that Gaga, 28, and Bennett, 88, have some free time, the pair have spent all week promoting the long-awaited album. The duo also released a studio video of themselves recording Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes,” which was most famously recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1955.
Other songs on the album include “(Dancing) Cheek to Cheek,” “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” “Sophisticated Lady,” and “Lush Life.”
Saxophonist Joe Lovano and flutist Paul Horn also stand as just a two of the guest stars that will be helping out on the album. Bennett’s quartet provide most of the instrumental support, alongside trumpeter and Gaga’s long-time friend Brian Newman, who performed “Orange Colored Sky” with Gaga at a British music festival a few years ago.
