Lady Gaga has revealed plans to record a Jazz album with crooner Tony Bennett.

The news comes after more than a year of rumors that Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, has been planning a temporary departure from highly produced pop to explore her Jazz roots, but hasn’t had the time.

Lady Gaga revealed the new project on Twitter, tweeting a photo of performance alongside Tony Bennett at a private White House staff inaugural ball after Barack Obama’s second inauguration.

Referring to Bennett, she tweeted: “… I simply cannot wait for our album together, he’s my darling.”

No time frame for release is currently known, though the project is expected to receive an official announcement towards the end of 2013.

This project won’t be Gaga’s first foray into the Jazz world. The singer/songwriter collaborated with Bennett on his award-winning ‘Duets II’ album. Gaga was also a member of her high school Jazz band, and was occasionally spotted at Jazz clubs around New York before adopting her Lady Gaga persona.

‘Duets II’ was Tony Bennett’s first number one album in his illustrious 60-year career, and also featured the likes of Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Bono, and Amy Winehouse.

Lady Gaga’s next album, ARTPOP, is expected to be released Spring 2013, but may be pushed back as one of the album’s producers claimed Gaga has “loads more work to do” on the album.
